“據報”、”有消息指” 槍手不忿買不到首映戲票

I am very disappointed in reading Apple Daily headline “不忿買不到首映戲票美《蝙蝠俠》狂迷血洗戲院 12死50傷” because it shows again how irresponsible and reckless Apple Daily reporters and editors in their reporting. The more responsible newspapers, like Guardian, did not attribute a reason when we simply don’t know what is the case NOW, at this moment. “Colorado theater shooting suspect James Holmes was doctoral student – Suspect in mass shooting left his graduate programme at the University of Colorado last month, but no motive is yet known

Of course, in the minds of Apple Daily editors (and reporters), they simply can’t give up a great chance to cartoonify news and make things more “interesting”. The heck with reporting the truth in news.

P.S. Good reporting is possible. Here is an example. A good collection of LIVE updates/reports from Guardian, “Aurora shooting: 12 dead as gunman opens fire at movie theater: live updates

Update: I am not 100% sure but according to this latest Guardian article “Colorado theater shooting: a deadly attack delivered with brutal precision

“Four of the Century 16 theaters were simultaneously showing the film, and all were sold out.

He bought a ticket for theater nine. But a few minutes after The Dark Knight Rises began rolling, he was seen leaving the auditorium.

A US law official interviewed by the Associated Press said that Holmes then propped open the back door of the cinema and went out to his car, where he readied himself for the hurricane of violence he was about to unleash.”

Assuming theater nine was showing The Dark Knight Rises, then we now know Apple Daily mis-reported the gunman “不忿買不到首映戲票” by rushing to report unreliable sources.
